Citizens’ Assembly

divider
PILAP’s Citizens’ Assembly is a democratic body that meets twice a year to propose and vote on public interest cases. Each member can propose one case, and during the vote, each one has 5 votes. The top 5 cases with most votes are chosen for the next six months. PILAP then focuses on these specific cases, either through advocacy or litigation, for the remainder of the term until the next bi-annual meeting.

The 2nd Meeting of PILAP’s Citizens’ Assembly (CA) took place in July 2022. Ten issues/cases were suggested by Citizens’ Assembly members. These ten cases were shared with all CA members ahead of time, and in a formal meeting they were briefed on all the proposed cases. Any questions or concerns on any of the cases were answered. They were then sent voting documents, containing all information on each proposed case presented by the respective sponsoring members. The proposed cases and the voting results are below. The cases highlighted in yellow are those that received most votes. The top 5 are currently being worked upon with help of the sponsoring CA member.
