Provision of Personal Protective Equipment for Sanitary Workers

During the Covid19 pandemic in 2020, news came to light that the Metropolitan Corporation of Islamabad (MCI) had not been providing personal protective equipment (PPE) to sanitary workers who had been employed to keep the jurisdiction of the MCI clean. PILAP wrote an RTI to MCI asking about the measures taken to ensure that all employees were treated equally in the provision of PPE, and the reasoning for the non-provision of PPE to sanitary workers, whether employed directly or outsourced by contractors.
