Broadsheet Government Transparency

What’s at Stake

In early 2021, news emerged about a problematic agreement between NAB and an asset recovery firm it had hired, Broadsheet LLC. A few clauses of the agreement were cause for concern as it was agreed that a portion of the recovered assets would go to Broadsheet. Further troubling was the news that settlement payments were made to individuals not associated with Broadsheet. An international arbitration award over the agreement led to NAB, and thereby the national exchequer, being liable for the payment of millions of dollars.

Current Status

PILAP wrote an RTI to NAB to enquire into the events surrounding the agreement, as well as the arbitration award.
