CDA Flooding

What’s at Stake

In late July 2021, during heavy rains in the capital, two lives were lost due to unregulated construction along a nullah. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is the regulatory authority responsible for regulating all constructions within its jurisdiction, and any negligence on its part can be potentially fatal, as demonstrated by the unfortunate incident in July 2021.

Current Status

PILAP wrote an RTI to the CDA asking about the regulatory impact of the illegal constructions. After going through the appeals process before the Pakistan Information Commission, the PIC ordered the CDA to provide the requisite information.
